OBTU Chapter Meeting November 20, 2024
November 20 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
NOTE: Once again we will be meeting in Oak Brook Park District Family Recreation Center Studio ‘C’
Topic: “Steelhead Alley”
Steelhead Alley is a year round, multi-species fishery including many tributaries flowing from Ohio, Pennsylvania and upstate New York into the Great Lakes. There are reports of Ohio introducing fishable numbers of steelhead from Michigan’s Little Manistee into the region in the mid-1990’s and evidence of earlier stocking in Pennsylvania. These efforts have grown to create a high concentration of fish resulting in a nationally renowned steelhead destination within a day’s drive of the Chicago area. John will summarize Steelhead Alley fishing opportunities with an emphasis on steelhead in his NE Ohio and NW Pennsylvania home waters. Covered Bridge Outfitters and Lodge also offers guided hunting opportunities.
Speaker: John Fabian, Proprietor and Head Guide, Covered Bridge Outfitters and Lodge (based in Conneaut, Northeast Ohio)
More About John Fabian:
Being born and raised in Northeast Ohio provided a special backdrop for a lifelong pursuit of being outdoors. Fishing came to me as I took my first steps and Fly Fishing not long after at the age of 7. The last 30 years have led me around the country chasing every fish that swims in freshwater. Fly Fishing became my preferred method as I began to appreciate my time on the water more with each passing year. Building off of quality time spent outdoors, hunting quickly became a way of life as well. After guiding around the country, the year-round opportunities that exist locally brought me back to Ohio where my pursuit began. In 2017, John Fabian Fly Fishing was started. Growing a team of great anglers and developing the fisheries of Ohio was the goal and we achieved it! We then went to work creating Covered Bridge Outfitters & Lodge located in Conneaut, Ohio (opened in 2022). Come spend a day on the water or in the woods with us and make some truly great memories!
This is a hybrid meeting: You can attend in person at the Central Park West Building at the Oak Brook Park District (see map below) or you can attend the meeting remotely by signing on to Zoom.
