Free Introductory Fly Tying Classes

OBTU is sponsoring a series of free introductory fly tying workshops for both its members and the general public on Tuesdays 7-9 p.m. at the Bass Pro Shops Bolingbrook store on the following dates:
November 6
Fly tying equipment and materials will be provided.  Learn to tie several basic patterns: woolly bugger, nymph and foam spider.
There will be 12 participants per class, so sign up today by contacting Lisa Piggott, Bass Pro Shops, at 630.296.2702.
Fly tying classes will take place in the first floor Fly Fishing Department.

Location:  Bass Pro Shops, 709 Janes Avenue, Bolingbrook, IL  60440.  Behind the Bolingbrook Promenade Shopping Center at Boughton Road and I-355.

8th Annual Early “Fly Fishing” Show   
Presented by the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance and DuPage Rivers Fly Tiers
Come to the 7th Early Show, Chicago’s only all fly fishing and fly tying show!
Admission: $10 for adults–kids 12 and under are free.
Sit with the area’s best fly tiers as they demonstrate their talents on a wide variety of fly patterns. Kids will enjoy the free fly tying and entomology programs.

Show Features:25+ regional fly tiers — sit and watch them create a fly for the waters they fish.
  • Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Casting Instructors will provide free casting lessons.
  • Spey casting demonstrations and help matching the line to rod.
  • Regional fishing guides on hand to share tips and book trips.
  • Guest speaker presentations all day long.
  • Vendors include area shops, reps, pro tiers and guides–all with great deals.
  • Area club booths ready to answer questions about their activities.
  • Raffle of donated flies and gear drawn at end of the show.

Drift FFF certified casting instruction 10:30 to 12:30 and 1:30 to 3:30pm
The Early Show will be held at the Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook which was constructed by Francis Stuyvesant Peabody during the American Gilded Age. Experience the splendor of its grounds and learn about fly fishing and fly tying inside the mansion at The Early Show.
