SUMMARY:Southeast Wisconsin Work Day at Whitewater Creek
DESCRIPTION:The partnership between SEWTU & OBTU continues… \nWork Day Details: \nThe Saturday June 6\, 2026 Workday will be at Whitewater Creek just southeast of Whitewater\, WI.  The work site is at the Millis Road crossing of Whitewater Creek. Parking is located about 500 feet Northeast of the creek on Millis Road: \nLink to Work Location on Google Maps  \nVolunteers will be installing biologs.  Biologs are installed to stabilize banks and channelize stream flow to maintain deeper\, colder runs that improve trout habitat. \nRSVP Ken Rizzo at riz2337@yahoo.com if you plan to attend so he can purchase the right amount of food. The Workday will start 9am & end at noon followed by a brat fry. \nThe Southeast Wisconsin Chapter of Trout Unlimited (SEWTU) will partner with Oakbrook\, IL TU (OBTU) to continue installing biologs in the stream. If time permits we will backfill the biologs with brush cut from a nearby area.   This is a continuation of the work OBTU assisted with on Oct 18\, 2025. \nWorkers should bring waders\, safety glasses\, and work gloves. There will also be some work for volunteers without waders. Additionally bring a folding chair for the after-party brat fry. \nRSVP Ken Rizzo at riz2337@yahoo.com or call 262-370-4937 if you plan to attend or have any questions. \nIMPORTANT: Biologs can become un-managible when soaked. SUMMARY:Stream Girls Session 2026 Session #1
DESCRIPTION:Oak Brook Trout Unlimited (OBTU) will return with the STREAM Girls program. The program is open to girls 11 to 14 years old. All equipment is provided by Oak Brook Chapter Trout Unlimited. \nSTREAM Girls employs STEM-education (science\, technology. Engineering\, math) plus recreation and arts to explore a local stream.\nEvery person is a citizen of her watershed\, and OBTU has partnered with Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois to show what that means to us. By visiting a local stream and having the opportunity to observe it as scientists\, anglers\, and artists\, girls will get the complete picture of what their local stream could mean to them. \nOver the course of multiple sessions\, OBTU volunteers will lead the Girl Scouts in observing a stream\, sampling macroinvertebrates\, fly tying\, and fly casting.
