SUMMARY:Chapter Meeting (with Brat Cookout before the meeting)
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Kirk Olson\, Senior Fisheries Biologist\, Wisc. DNR\, La Crosse\, WI.  \nTopic: “Restoring Brook Trout Population on a Driftless Stream”:  Kirk will be talking about a project the WDNR began in 2019 to restore a declining Brook Trout population by removing Brown Trout from a small Vernon County stream. Following Brown Trout removal efforts\, native Brook Trout numbers have exploded in the stream. Brown Trout have yet to be completely removed from the stream\, but numbers have continued to decline\, and complete removal may be feasible given the presence of a trout passage barrier on the lower end of the stream. \n \n  \n  \n  \nMore About Kirk Olson: Kirk earned his BS from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and his Masters from University Minnesota Duluth\, where his thesis focused on the ecology of threatened trout species in Mongolia. He has been working in his current position in the Driftless Area for five years. When not working\, Kirk can be found trout fishing\, birding\, hunting\, and spending time with his family. Kirk is shown here with a colleague surveying some very impressive brook trout on the project site. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nA Brat cookout will take place in the outdoor shelter attached to the Central Park West meeting location starting around 6:00pm.  The meeting will begin at 7:00pm. \nThis will be a hybrid meeting: \n\n You can attend the brat cookout and chapter meeting in person at our normal Oak Brook Park District\, Central Park West Building     Location (see map below)\, or:\nYou can attend the meeting presentation remotely starting at 7:00pm via Zoom using the following Zoom access info:\n\nTopic: OBTU May Chapter Meeting\nTime: May 18\, 2022 07:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)\n\nIf you choose to attend remotely\, Join Zoom Video Meeting via the following link:\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/7822219156\n\nOR:\nJoin via Phone:\nPhone #:  312 626 6799    Meeting ID: 782 221 9156\n\n\n  \n
