He will offer guidance to anyone who who dreams of some day making the pilgrimage. \nMore About Carl: Carl Hueter has served as a TU National Leadership Council member as well as Michigan TU Council Chairman. DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Kirk Olson\, Senior Fisheries Biologist\, Wisc. DNR\, La Crosse\, WI.  \nTopic: “Restoring Brook Trout Population on a Driftless Stream”:  Kirk will be talking about a project the WDNR began in 2019 to restore a declining Brook Trout population by removing Brown Trout from a small Vernon County stream. Following Brown Trout removal efforts\, native Brook Trout numbers have exploded in the stream. Brown Trout have yet to be completely removed from the stream\, but numbers have continued to decline\, and complete removal may be feasible given the presence of a trout passage barrier on the lower end of the stream. \n \n  \n  \n  \nMore About Kirk Olson: Kirk earned his BS from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and his Masters from University Minnesota Duluth\, where his thesis focused on the ecology of threatened trout species in Mongolia. He has been working in his current position in the Driftless Area for five years. When not working\, Kirk can be found trout fishing\, birding\, hunting\, and spending time with his family. DESCRIPTION:Hello early Spring Driftless Fishing enthusiasts\, \nOBTU is pleased to announce a Spring fly fishing trip to the Fennimore\, Wisconsin area of the Driftless fly in Southwest Wisconsin \nLeadership: John Snyder\, OBTU Board\, frazier-tech@attglobal.net; 630 977 9077 \nActivities/Dates: April 22-24\, 2022 \n· Trip is organized for 12 people \n· Several rooms have been reserved at the Fenway House Hotel\, 1096 Lincoln\, Fennimore\, Wisconsin (See Google maps for directions) https://fenwayhousehotel.com Other hotels are available. \n· You can arrive Friday PM the 22nd (fish on you own on the way up) or early Saturday the 23rd for breakfast at 8:00 AM \n◦ I will arrive mid PM Friday\, and if you are interested\, we will meet at the Fenway House at 7 PM and walk to local restaurant for dinner. \n◦ We will meet at the hotel for Saturday breakfast to discuss fishing locations and options. \n▪ Bring your maps for review. Several good apps are available including Trout Routes \n◦ Coffee and light breakfast will be provided – local restaurants available if you want a heartier breakfast. \n◦ We will pair up and fish Saturday (bring your own lunch) \n◦ Then return to the Fennimore for a hearty dinner at 7:00 PM \n◦ For those who stay Saturday night\, we will have a light breakfast on Sunday AM\, then fish until all the trout have been hooked and the rest are hiding. DESCRIPTION:Trout on Tap:   Meet for food & drink on Wednesday evening\, June 16\, 2021\, from about 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Granite City Food & Brewery in Naperville.  Provides an informal\, small group atmosphere to catch up with your OBTU colleagues.   Also a good opportunity for newer members to get better acquainted\, and in-the-loop with what’s going on at OBTU.   All attendees are expected to pay for their own individual food & drink orders.\n\nFly Tying:  Bring your fly-tying equipment and materials to tie some flies and share tips and patterns with other members.
